Regional Weather Forecast for August 7, 2024

SYNOPSIS: As of 3:00 AM today, a Low Pressure Area (LPA) was located approximately 835 km East Northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon (24.8°N, 128.7°E). The Southwest Monsoon is currently affecting Southern Luzon and the Visayas.


Forecast:


- Palawan and Kalayaan Islands: Expect cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon.


- Visayas and Occidental Mindoro: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms are anticipated, also influenced by the Southwest Monsoon.


- Winds and Seas: Light to moderate winds from the southwest will prevail across the entire Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro, resulting in slight to moderate sea conditions.


Detailed Weather Outlook:


- Palawan and Kalayaan Islands: Makakaranas ng maulap na kalangitan na may kalat-kalat na pag-ulan, pagkidlat, at pagkulog dulot ng Habagat.


- Visayas and Occidental Mindoro: Ang buong Visayas at Occidental Mindoro ay makakaranas ng bahagyang maulap hanggang sa maulap na kalangitan na may mga pulo-pulong pag-ulan, pagkidlat, o pagkulog dulot ng Habagat.


- Winds: Mahina hanggang sa katamtamang hangin mula sa Timog-Kanluran ang iiral sa buong Visayas, Palawan kasama ang Kalayaan Islands, at Occidental Mindoro, na may mahina hanggang katamtamang alon sa karagatan.


Metro Cebu Weather:


- Minimum Temperature: 26°C  

- Maximum Temperature: 33°C

DepEd Faces August Deadline to Fill Over 20,000 Teacher Vacancies

M ANILA, Philippines —  With only a month left before the deadline, the Department of Education (DepEd) has filled just 9 percent of the 22,323 available teaching positions across the country. During an oversight hearing with the House committee on appropriations, Education Undersecretary for Human Resource and Organizational Development Wilfredo Cabral reported that approximately 22 percent of the vacancies are in various stages of the hiring process. "As of this date, we have filled 9 percent of these positions. Twenty-two percent of the total teaching items are already in different stages of appointment. We have also implemented a monitoring system for all regions to verify compliance," Cabral stated.
