Marcos' Satisfaction Rating Slightly Increases in Latest SWS Survey

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has experienced a slight increase in his satisfaction rating, according to the latest survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) from June 23 to July 1, 2024.

The survey revealed that 55 percent of adult Filipinos are satisfied with Marcos’ performance, up from 50 percent in March. Dissatisfaction decreased slightly to 28 percent from the previous 31 percent.

Improvement in Net Satisfaction

President Marcos' net satisfaction rating now stands at +27, which is categorized as moderate. This marks a seven-point improvement from the +20 rating in March. While this is a recovery from earlier this year, it still falls short of the +47 rating recorded in December 2023.

Public Expectations and Perceptions

When it comes to public expectations of Marcos fulfilling his promises, the survey showed that nine percent believe all or nearly all will be met, and 17 percent expect most to be delivered. Meanwhile, 48 percent think only a few promises will be fulfilled, and 23 percent believe almost none will be achieved.

Views on Foreign Visits

The survey also evaluated public perceptions regarding the benefits of Marcos' foreign visits. It found that eight percent of respondents see very much benefit, and 37 percent see much benefit from these visits. However, these figures have decreased compared to previous years.

Expectations of Presidential Success

In terms of Marcos’ overall success as president, 22 percent of respondents expect him to succeed, 18 percent do not, and 60 percent feel it is too early to make a judgment.

Demographic Insights

The survey indicated that net satisfaction is higher among those who anticipate the fulfillment of promises and see significant benefits from Marcos’ foreign visits. Satisfaction levels are notably higher in rural areas, among older age groups, and those with lower educational attainment.

Survey Methodology

“The Second Quarter 2024 Social Weather Survey was conducted from June 23 to July 1, 2024, using face-to-face interviews of 1,500 adults (18 years old and above) nationwide: 600 in Balance Luzon (Luzon outside Metro Manila), and 300 each in Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao,” according to the SWS.
