Makati LGU Allocates Over P100 Million for Teachers' Incentives
The local government of Makati City has set aside a substantial budget of P103.5 million to provide various incentives and allowances for public school teachers and staff this year, underscoring the city's commitment to supporting its educators.
According to Mayor Abby Binay, the city has allocated P77.5 million to cover the P3,000 monthly allowance for public school teachers, P5.2 million for teaching-related staff, and P4.3 million for non-teaching personnel. Additionally, the city has earmarked P14.5 million for the teachers' fringe benefit of P6,000, which will be given in December.
Special Education (SPED) teachers will receive a P2,500 monthly allowance from an allocation of P1.95 million in this year's budget, recognizing the extraordinary skills and effort required to work with students with special needs.
Mayor Binay emphasized the city's deep appreciation for public school teachers and their pivotal role in shaping the future of Makati's youth. She expressed her support for Education Secretary Sonny Angara's goal to improve the benefits and working conditions of teachers nationwide.
"Teachers are the backbone of our education system, and their well-being is of paramount importance to us in Makati. We regard them as Makatizens who deserve our full support in every way possible," Mayor Binay stated.
The substantial investment in teachers' incentives and allowances underscores Makati City's recognition of the vital contributions of educators and its commitment to fostering a supportive environment for teaching and learning.
