Luzon Weather Update as of 4 PM, August 4, 2024
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued the latest weather update for Luzon, highlighting several key weather systems affecting the region.
General Weather Conditions
Luzon is currently experiencing mixed weather conditions with both clear and rainy areas. The southwest monsoon, locally known as "Habagat," continues to bring rain to various parts of the region.
Specific Areas and Conditions
- Northern and Central Luzon: Regions such as Cagayan, Isabela, and Quirino are experiencing scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) located near the coastal waters of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. This LPA is not expected to develop into a tropical cyclone due to high vertical wind shear but will still cause rain in these areas.
- Southern Luzon: Metro Manila, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and the rest of MIMAROPA are under the influence of the southwest monsoon, which brings scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. These areas should prepare for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.
- Localized Thunderstorms: The rest of Luzon may experience isolated rain showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening, which can lead to sudden heavy downpours.
Low-Pressure Area Monitoring
PAGASA is currently monitoring an LPA over the coastal waters of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. While this system is expected to move northwestward, affecting the eastern side of Southern Luzon, it remains unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next few days.
Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather bulletins and heed warnings from local authorities to ensure safety during adverse weather conditions.
