Central Visayas, Weather Update August 4, 2024 4PM

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a weather update for Central Visayas as of 4 PM on August 4, 2024.

General Weather Conditions

The southwest monsoon, locally known as Habagat, is currently affecting the region, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Central Visayas. This weather pattern is expected to persist, potentially causing flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains in some areas.

Specific Updates

Bohol: The province is experiencing similar weather conditions, with expectations of scattered rains and thunderstorms. Residents should be cautious of potential flash floods or landslides and take necessary precautions.

Cebu City: Like Bohol, Cebu City is also under the influence of the southwest monsoon, resulting in cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. The risk of flash floods during heavy rainfall events is heightened, and residents are advised to stay vigilant.

Wind and Coastal Conditions

Winds across the region are light to moderate, blowing from the southwest to south. Coastal waters are slightly to moderately rough, with wave heights ranging from 1.2 to 2.5 meters.

Low Pressure Area (LPA) Monitoring

In addition to the current weather conditions, PAGASA is closely monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) near the northeastern boundary of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). This LPA is expected to approach the country from Tuesday to Friday (August 6-9) and bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Central Luzon, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Residents in Central Visayas, particularly in Bohol and Cebu City, are advised to stay updated with the latest weather advisories and take necessary precautions against potential weather-related disruptions
