Central Visayas Weather Update August 5, 2024, 4PM

As of 4 PM on August 5, 2024, Central Visayas is experiencing significant weather changes due to the ongoing southwest monsoon (Habagat) and the influence of a low-pressure area (LPA). 


Current Weather Conditions


- General Outlook: Central Visayas is under cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms expected throughout the evening. This weather pattern is primarily caused by the southwest monsoon.


- Cebu City: Residents can anticipate overcast conditions with intermittent rain showers and possible thunderstorms, particularly during the night.


- Bohol Island: Similar weather is expected, with cloudy skies and scattered rain showers or thunderstorms likely to persist into the night.


- Temperature: The temperature in the region is expected to range from a low of 24°C to a high of 32°C.


Low Pressure Area Monitoring


PAGASA is currently monitoring two low-pressure areas:


1. One LPA is located approximately 1,155 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.

2. Another LPA is being observed just outside the Philippine area of responsibility.


These LPAs are expected to enhance the effects of the southwest monsoon, leading to increased rainfall across Central Visayas.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant for possible flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas. It is essential to stay updated with local weather advisories from PAGASA for any changes in the weather conditions.

DepEd Faces August Deadline to Fill Over 20,000 Teacher Vacancies

M ANILA, Philippines —  With only a month left before the deadline, the Department of Education (DepEd) has filled just 9 percent of the 22,323 available teaching positions across the country. During an oversight hearing with the House committee on appropriations, Education Undersecretary for Human Resource and Organizational Development Wilfredo Cabral reported that approximately 22 percent of the vacancies are in various stages of the hiring process. "As of this date, we have filled 9 percent of these positions. Twenty-two percent of the total teaching items are already in different stages of appointment. We have also implemented a monitoring system for all regions to verify compliance," Cabral stated. Ngayong araw sa Bohol, asahan ang maulang panahon. Bandang umaga, magkakaroon ng kalat-kalat na mga ulap na may temperaturang nasa 28°C.
