Carlos Yulo's Mother Holds Press Conference Amid Issues, Public Feud
MANILA, Philippines — Angelica Yulo, the mother of double Olympic champion Carlos Yulo, publicly apologized to her son on Wednesday, addressing their recent public dispute during a press conference alongside her lawyer, Raymond Fortun.
“Anak, patawad. Alam kong iniisip ng iba na nagsasalita lang ako dahil sa iyong tagumpay,” she said, acknowledging the perception that her apology may be influenced by her son's achievements.
Angelica expressed her desire for forgiveness, stating, “I’m just a mother who worries... You are now an adult and capable of making your own choices. Our door will always be open for you, regardless of your financial situation. I cannot take back my previous statements, but your father and I are ready to talk with understanding whenever you feel ready to come home and resolve this.”
She emphasized that the details of their feud should remain private, as outsiders do not fully understand the situation. Additionally, she apologized to the Filipino public for her comments made during television interviews, attributing her emotional state to the stress of watching her son compete in the Paris Olympics.
“Okay na kami, at ang tanging dasal ko ay ang paghilom ng mga sugat sa pagitan namin... Nais kong mawala ang sakit, lalo na’t matagal na itong nasa puso ko,” she added.
From Paris, Carlos Yulo had previously discussed issues regarding his finances and personal attacks directed at his girlfriend, urging his mother to focus on healing and celebrating his Olympic victories instead.
